Every company has a few high-performing managers who have the potential to become executives, but year after year they are designated “ready in two or more years,” with nothing specific done to prepare them. This is your company's deep leadership bench, the few individuals who are top performers and—if the company doesn't invest in them—are most likely to leave for other opportunities. We focus on these up-and-coming leaders, providing individualized answers and practical tools to help them address the leadership challenges they face today and preparing them to step into more challenging and expansive leadership roles in your organization.

Two programs address this cohort: Beyond the Ceiling for high-potential women and Bench Strength! for all high-potentials. They are six-month-long programs that combine professionally-facilitated peer coaching circles, proven leadership tools to equip participants to handle tough leadership challenges, and individual coaching sessions with an experienced external coach.

Training Your Managers

Linda has extensive experience in design and development of learning programs in leadership and management development, including building the talent development functions from the ground up in two technology companies. Understanding the specific needs of each management culture and designing programs to support the strategic business direction as well as individual and team skills development is a challenge she loves to undertake.


As an executive coach and leadership consultant, Linda Thompson draws on more than 20 years of experience as a corporate vice president and director of human resources responsible for multiple areas of talent management and leadership/organizational development. Linda gives her clients the feedback they need to increase their effectiveness, leverage their strengths, and build self-awareness in how their behavior impacts others. She excels at helping clients create new possibilities to achieve breakthroughs—in their goals, relationships, and team dynamics.

Linda holds a Bachelor's degree from Skidmore College and a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed the Human Resource Executive Program at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business as well as the OD/HR Management program at Columbia University and is certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Social Styles, Firo B, PDI 360, and Lominger 360. Her article, “Coaching Quicksand: Avoiding Hidden Dangers that Trap the Best of Us,” was published in the International Journal of Coaching in Organizations. In addition to her educational and business experience, she is a recipient of the YWCA Tribute to Women and Industry Award, which recognizes women leaders who represent leadership role models for others.
